What People Say About Us

Dear Ms Joy,

Re: Delius Special School Clinic 16 September 2015

I came into Delius to carry out a clinic on the 16 September 2015. A number of the Teaching Staff came into the clinic appointment with the child. I am just writing to say how impressed I was with your staff. They knew the pupils very well and their expert knowledge was very useful in my clinical assessment. They clearly had a good relationship with the child and communicated so well with the child and family. They also made very helpful suggestions for example regarding behaviour management. I was so impressed that I just thought I would write to let you know.

Kind Regards

Dear Ms Joy and Mr Cameron

I would like to thank you for allowing me to attend Delius Special School last week and gain an insight into your organisation.

I really enjoyed my week and now have a strong platform from which to choose a career path into teaching.

I would like to take this opportunity to provide some feedback to you regarding my impressions and experiences of the School and it’s staff. Perhaps this can offer some rare feedback outside of the official, regulatory capacity?

1) Atmosphere – the overall impression I gained of the School was hugely positive, and was reflected in the demeanor of students and staff alike. I was struck by the sense of happiness throughout the School and calm positivity in which the day to day was carried out. I am sure that this is crucial to success for a learning and a working environment. I was always made to feel welcome and part of the greater whole.

2) Professionalism – every member of staff I met at the School had a professional, objective manner. The maintenance of this in often challenging situations was very impressive. There was clearly a robust work ethic running through the School that was directed by a common objective. Each staff member had a depth of skills on which to draw through their training and/or personal attributes.

3) Adaptability – I was amazed at the breadth of demands upon each member of staff and how individuals consistently met these. The constantly fluid requirements of the jobs were in stark contrast to the commercial working environments I have been used to. From an organisational perspective, the willingness of staff to cover and adapt when required was key.

In summary, I think that the happiness and development of the students at Delius School reflected the professional and progressive work done by all members of staff on a daily basis. It was a very valuable insight for me as I assess the career paths into teaching and how to do the job well.

Thank you again for the opportunity.
Sincerely
Jamie Shrive
